Icon Aerospace Technology recognised for SiG achievement

Icon Aerospace Technology has been recognised for its impressive Continuous Improvement Programme (CIP) after being interviewed by The Manufacturer magazine.

The publication, which targets manufacturing boardrooms and senior management professionals, met with Icon CEO Tim Pryce at a recent Sharing in Growth (SiG) conference, and was impressed after hearing the aerospace technology company’s success a year on from beginning its CIP programme. The programme, known as i4, Improvement; Insight; Intelligence and Inspiration, aims to create an environment that enables all employees to contribute, learn and deliver improvements throughout the business every day. It is being rolled out with the backing of a dedicated SiG team.

A 33% improvement in production rates, 20% improvement in yield, and 29% turnover growth are just some of the achievements the business has recorded in its first year of i4. After hearing how this is enabling Icon to outperform the global marketplace, The Manufacturer interviewed Tim Pryce, publishing a video online in which he speaks about the future of UK aerospace manufacturers.

In the video, Tim Pryce talks about the state of the global aerospace market, adding that while major OEMs are working through a backlog of projects, many aircraft are currently in the infancy of the build process, offering a wealth of opportunities for the supply chain.

Tim Pryce also talks about the importance of UK manufacturers travelling abroad and meeting overseas customers face to face, to better understand their requirements and respond to their needs. This philosophy, which Icon calls Face-2-Face engineering, has been another enabler of the company’s recent success.
